1/144 Republic F-47 Thunderbolt

Non, il n'y a pas d'erreur dans le titre de cet article....

A partir de 1947, les avions de l'USAF ont eu la lettre F (comme fighter) à la place du P utilisé auparavant (Pursuit).

Après la seconde guerre mondiale, les Etats Unis ont décidé de reconstituer l'aviation impériale iranienne mise à mal pendant l'occupation conjointe de l'Iran tant par les Britanniques d'un côté que les Soviétiques de l'autre, et les premiers avions fournis étaient des Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, sous la nouvelle désignation de F-47.

Le modèle présenté est un kit de M. Chaubet que j'ai depuis plusieurs années, et dont je ne savais pas trop quoi faire.

Jusqu'au jour où, après avoir fait la poussière et réarrangé un diorama de musée des "avions à hélices des petites armées de l'air", je me suis retrouvé avec plus de place....

Je devrais peut être faire la poussière plus souvent....😂😂

Le montage et la peinture de ce modèle se sont déroulés sans problème et j'ai pu réaliser une livrée de l'armée de l'air impériale d'Iran grâce aux superbes décalques de Shelf Oddity.

No, there is no mistake in the title of this article....

From 1947, USAF aircraft had the letter F (like fighter) instead of the previously used P (Pursuit).

After the Second World War, the United States decided to reconstitute the Iranian imperial aviation damaged during the joint occupation of Iran by both the British on one side and the Soviets on the other, and the first planes supplied were Republic P-47 Thunderbolts, under the new designation F-47.

The model presented is a kit from Mr. Chaubet that I have had for several years, and with which I did not really know what to do with.

Until one day, after dusting and rearranging a museum diorama of "propeller planes of small air forces", I found myself with more space....

Maybe I should dust more often....😂😂

Assembly and painting of this model went smoothly and I was able to create an Imperial Iranian Air Force livery using Shelf Oddity's superb decals.

Souvenirs, souvenirs....

Je pensais que cette nouvelle année commencerait sous de meilleurs auspices, mais elle semble bien proche de la précédente, du moins pour l'instant.

En feuilletant un très vieux magazine, et en comparant certains des modèles que j'avais,  je me suis rendu compte que j'avais été très largement influencé, parfois inconsciemment, par une célèbre marque de maquettes, que beaucoup d'entre vous ont dû connaître....

Alors, un petit souvenir d'une période sans virus, sans masque, sans confinement, etc, un petit souvenir de ces maquettes qui nous ont fait rêver et qui sont présentées ici au 1/144.... (hélas, sans le boxart, mais un jour peut être.....).

I thought this new year would start off in a better way, but it looks pretty close to the last, at least for now.

As I leafed through a very old magazine, and compared some of the models I had, I realized that I had been very heavily influenced, sometimes unconsciously, by a famous brand of model kits, that many of you must have known ....

So, a small memory of a period without virus, without mask, without lockdown, etc., a small memory of these models which made us dream and which are presented here at 1/144 ... (alas, without the boxart, but one day may be .....).

Retour au classicisme avec ce Republic P-47 Thunderbolt au 1/144 réalisé par M. Chaubet, que j'ai trouvé sur le second marché.
Encore un P-47 direz-vous....
Oui, mais.... (une réponse bien française....😀) ce qui est intéressant c'est qu'il n'est pas peint mais est simplement en métal naturel poli.
Je n'ai pas trouvé de photo du vrai modèle, mais seulement du même avion, accidenté avec un autre pilote, au vu du nose art différent.

Yes, but.... (a very French answer....😀) what is interesting is that it is not painted but is simply natural polished metal.
I did not find a photo of the real model, but only of the same plane, crashed with a other pilot, given the different nose art.

Après toutes ces escapades, un retour à la collection s'impose, non...?
Ce qu'il y a de bien quand on reste un peu chez soi, c'est que l'on peut passer du temps à réaliser ou décorer des modèles qui souvent, traînaient dans des tiroirs...
C'est le cas pour ce P-47, que j'avais commandé à M. Chaubet uniquement monté et peint tout alu, et qui attendait dans un tiroir que je réalise la décoration que j'avais choisie.
Le problème a été que je n'ai pas trouvé de gueule de requin correspondant à la livrée choisie et il m'a fallu donc des années pour que, enfin, j'ose la réaliser.
Et voici donc ce Républic P-47 au 1/144 aux couleurs de la Bolivie, avec sa gueule de requin particulière.

What is good when you stay a little at home, is that we can spend time making or decorating models, that often dragged in drawers...
This is the case for this P-47, which I ordered to Mr. Chaubet only built and painted all aluminum, and waiting in a drawer that I realize the decoration I had chosen.
The problem was that I did not find a shark mouth corresponding to the chosen livery and it took me so many years for that, finally, I dare to realize it.
And here is the Republic P-47 at 1/144 in the colors of Bolivia, with its particular shark mouth.

Troisième et dernier set Corgi au 1/144, aussi retrouvé au fond d'un carton, le set "Little Friends" représentant des avions d'escorte de l'USAF, les North American P-51D Mustang aux couleurs de l'as Bud Anderson du 357th Fighter Group et le Republic P-47D aux couleurs de l'as David Shilling du 56th Fighter Group.


The third and last Corgi set at 1/144, also found at the bottom of a box, the set "Little Friends" representing USAAF escort aircraft, the North American P-51D Mustang, in the colors of ace Bud Anderson of the 357th Fighter Group and Republic P-47D Thunderbolt in the colors of ace David Shilling of the 56th Fighter Group.
