C'est un avion historique : Confronté aux qualités du MiG 15 pendant la guerre de Corée, les américains ont organisé l'Opération Moolah, pour pouvoir obtenir un tel avion par le biais de la défection de son pilote avec à la clé, une somme de 100.000 dollars.

Malgré le largage de tracts au dessus de la Corée, des rumeurs lancées par voie de presse ou de radio, ce n'est qu'en septembre 1953, soit après l'armistice de juillet 1953, qu'un pilote Nord Coréen, le lieutenant No Kum-sok, a posé son MiG 15 sur une base Sud Coréenne.

L'avion sera finalement étudié en profondeur au Japon, notamment par l'as Chuck Yeager, avant d'être envoyé au Etats Unis.

La CIA a offert au pilote, qui ignorait tout de la récompense, la prise en charge d'une scolarité complète aux USA à la place de la somme, mais il semble avoir préféré les 100.000 $....?

Je n'ai pas pu résister longtemps, et j'ai donc abandonné les travaux en cours pour réaliser ce MiG 15 aux couleurs égyptiennes à l'époque de la Crise de Suez, avec des décalques JBr sur la base d'un modèle monté et peint par M. Chaubet.

Je n'ai pas choisi exprès des photos d'avions accidentés, mais il y en a très peu surtout avec les anciennes cocardes égyptiennes avant celles de l'United Arab Republic (UAR).

Le plus dur a été de trouver des photos de MiG 15 autres que des russes ou nord coréens.
