1/144 Vought F4U Corsair

Il y a quelques années, lors de mon installation dans l'appartement que j'occupe actuellement et, lorsque j'ai commencé à remplir ma vitrine des nombreux modèles qui étaient dans des cartons, il y a eu quelques accidents, dont il a été fait état ici et là dans ce blog lorsque je les ai présentés après réparations.

Ce Corsair, provenant de M. Chaubet, est le dernier de cette série de malheureux, pour lequel j'ai attendu très longtemps de lui trouver une décoration un peu originale.... 

Et j'ai enfin trouvé grâce au site de Mr Decal, un fabricant tchèque qui fait des trucs originaux, à  différentes échelles (lien : https://mrdecal.zolnierowi.cz/en/pricing/lotnictwo )

Voici donc, à partir d'un modèle de M. Chaubet que j'ai du repeindre après accident et redécorer, un Vought Corsair aux couleurs des US Marines pendant la guerre de Corée.

Concernant la peinture, et contrairement à ce que je pensais, je me suis rendu compte que les Corsair des US Marines (tout au moins ceux de la Vmf-23) étaient particulièrement bien entretenus....(du moins avant l'accident....).

A few years ago, when I moved into the flat I currently occupy and when I started to fill my showcase with the many models that were in boxes, there were a few accidents, which have been reported here and there in this blog when I presented them after repairs.

This Corsair, from Mr Chaubet, is the last in this series of unfortunates, for which I have waited a very long time to find a slightly original decoration....

And I finally found thanks to the site of Mr Decal, a Czech manufacturer who makes original stuff, on different scales (link: https://mrdecal.zolnierowi.cz/en/pricing/lotnictwo )

Here is a Vought Corsair in the colours of the US Marines during the Korean War, based on a model by Mr Chaubet that I had to repaint after an accident and redecorate.

Regarding the paint, and contrary to what I thought, I realized that the US Marines' Corsairs (at least those of the Vmf-23) were particularly well maintained...(at least before the accident. ...).

1/144 Vought F4U Corsair

Bien sûr, je n'ai pas résisté !!!

J'ai tout laissé tomber pour décorer ce Corsair au 1/144, monté et peint par M. Chaubet, aux couleurs d'un avion de la Fleet Air Arm dans le Pacifique, piloté par un canadien titulaire de la Victoria Cross (plus haute distinction britannique et du Commonwealth), tué le 9 août 1945..., avec les décalques de CanMilAir.

I dropped everything to decorate this Corsair at 1/144, assembled and painted by Mr. Chaubet, in the colors of an airplane of the Fleet Air Arm in the Pacific, piloted by a Canadian holder of the Victoria Cross (the highest British and Commonwealth award), killed Aug. 9, 1945..., with CanMilAir decals.

1/144 Vought F4U Corsair - by Chaubet

Le « Corsaire » le plus connu de la seconde guerre mondiale : le Vought F4U Corsair de « Papy » Boyington, fabriqué par M. Chaubet au 1/144.

1/144 Johnny Lightning : P-51, P-47, P-40, Corsair

Il y a quelques années, j'ai trouvé sur internet des ensembles de 2 avions sous blister, annoncés comme étant au 1/144 et en métal, de la marque Johnny Lightning Military Muscle.
Aventurier comme je suis, j'ai donc pris le risque d'en acheter deux sets :
- un P-40 Warhawk
- un P-47 Thunderbolt razorback
- un F4U Corsair,
- et un P-51 Mustang.
Ces modèles sont présentés sur un support, et ils n'ont donc pas de train d’atterrissage.
Ils sont bien conformes au 1/144, mais comme tous ces produits Diecast, la gravure est un peu importante.


A few years ago, I found on the web sets of two planes under blister, advertised as 1/144 and metal, of the brand Johnny Lightning Military Muscle.
Adventurous as I am, so I took the risk to buy two sets :
- a P-40 Warhawk
- a P-47 Thunderbolt razorback
- a F4U Corsair
-  and a P-51 Mustang.
These models are presented on a support, and they do not have landing gear.
They are conform to 1/144, but like all these products Diecast, engraving is a little high.

Pour le P-51, rien à dire pour la décoration qui est vraiment superbe.

For the P-51, nothing to say for decoration which is lovely.

Pour le P-47, j'ai juste complété la décoration du nez avec des décalques pour le mot "Dottie III".
Il a fallu poser lettre par lettre, sur les 2 côtés...

Le P-40 est pas mal, aux couleurs des Tigres Volants, mais je ne sais pas si je ne vais pas le redécorer.


The P-40 is not bad, in Flying Tigers markings, but I do not know if I'm not going to redecorate.

J'ai trouvé le Corsair très moche, et j'ai donc décidé de le repeindre complètement.


I found the Corsair really ugly, so I decided to repaint it completely.

Pour changer un peu des Corsair américains, anglais ou français, j'ai finalement choisi un avion de la marine argentine, grâce aux planches de décalques de Zotz (Roundels of the world).
Les planches sont au 1/72 mais on peut utiliser les petites décalques pour certains modèles au 1/144 à l'époque où les cocardes n'étaient pas "basse visibilité".


To change a bit of American, British or French Corsairs, I finally chose an aircraft of the Argentine Navy,  thanks to Zotz decals sheets (Roundels of the world).
The sheets are 1/72 but you can use small decals for some models to 1/144 at the time when cockades were not "low visibility".

Je ne sais pas si cet insigne de la marine argentine est de la même époque que l'avion, mais je l'ai trouvé joli pour orner le socle.


I do not know if the badge of the Argentine navy is to the same time as the plane, but I found it nice to adorn the base.

1/144 Vought F4U Corsair - by Chaubet

Pas de posts ces prochains jours en raison d'un autre week end, oui encore un..., cette fois à Londres.
Mais attention : ce n'est pas pour le plaisir, c'est pour le boulot : pubs, shopping et, si j'ai le temps avec tout ça, un petit tour à l'Imperial War Museum avant qu'il ne ferme pour transformation.

No posts in the coming days due to another weekend, yes one again ..., this time in London.
But beware : this is not for fun, it's for job : pubs, shopping and, if I have the time with all that, a visit at the Imperial War Museum before it closes for transforming.

En attendant, une commande vraiment spéciale réalisée par M. Chaubet : un Vought F4U Corsair avec les ailes repliées (oui, au 1/144 et en métal...), aux couleurs de l'Aéronavale.

Meanwhile, a very special order made ​​by Mr. Chaubet : a Vought Corsair F4U with folded wings (yes, at 1/144 scale and metal...), in the colors and markings of French Naval Aviation.
