Toujours cet avion "marin" qui a finalement été plus souvent "terrien", le Grumman Bearcat, monté et peint par M. Chaubet, que j'ai décoré aux couleurs thaïlandaises avec les excellentes décalques de Siam Decals.

Still this "maritime" airplane which was finally mostly "earthling", the Grumman Bearcat, mounted and painted by Mr. Chaubet, which I decorated in Thai colors with the excellent decals from Siam Decals.

M. Chaubet est revenu ! Mr Chaubet is back !

Oui ! M. Chaubet est passé au bureau et m'a porté 6 modèles, montés et peints, qu'il reste à décorer :

- F-100 Super Sabre : Taiwan
- MiG 15 : Egypt
- MiG 15 : Algeria
- Bearcat : Thailand
- P-51 Mustang : Korea
- P-51 Mustang : ?????

Mais, je ne vais pas pouvoir travailler ce week end, car je pars à Londres pour revoir l'Imperial War Museum après travaux et réaménagement.


Yes ! Mr. Chaubet went to the office and took me 6 models, built and painted, which it remains to decorate :

Pas de messages ces prochains jours pour cause de déplacement à Londres, où j’espère bien voir le Supermarine S6B au Science Museum, avant de monter le kit que j’ai trouvé l’été dernier (voir ici).

En attendant, une fois n’est pas coutume, un peu de philosophie ?
Non, je plaisante, ou presque…
Pourquoi les fabricants ont le besoin de donner des noms d’animaux à leurs avions alors que la comparaison entre les deux est pour le moins surprenante…

La traduction littérale de Bearcat, en inversant les mots pour les traductions Anglais-Français, donne le nom d'un fromage de la région Champagne-Ardennes, le Chaource.

A particularity : the literal translation of Bearcat also gives the name of a cheese from the Champagne-Ardenne region.

Bear = Ours and Cat = Chat, and then reverse the order of words as usual for translating English to French : Bearcat = Chat Ours = the name of Chaource cheese (with a different spelling but the same pronunciation).

Bien que cela soit un avion "marin", il a été utilisé par l'Armée de l'Air et pas par l'Aéronavale, notamment en Indochine : Le Grumman Bearcat, réalisé par M. Chaubet au 1/144.


Although it is an "marine" airplane, it was used by the French Air Force and not by the Naval Aviation, especially in Indochina : The Grumman Bearcat, made by Mr. Chaubet at 1/144.
