1/144 North American T-6 (Harvard)

Retour à la collection, un peu délaissée depuis les dernières vacances.

Provenant d'une commande faite à M. Chaubet, de modèles montés et peints (voir ici), voici un North American AT-6 que j'ai décoré aux couleurs d'un des premiers avions de la force aérienne Syrienne, grâce aux décalques du kit pastique Valom.

Back to the collection, a little neglected since the last vacation.

Coming from an order made to Mr. Chaubet, models assembled and painted (see here), here is a North American AT-6 that I decorated with the colors of one of the first planes of the Syrian air force, thanks to the decals of the Valom pastic kit.

En raison du confinement, je n'ai pas pu rencontrer M. Chaubet mais il m'a envoyé sa dernière livraison par voie postale.

Et voici les derniers modèles au 1/144 montés et peints sur lesquels il reste à poser des décalques : Grumman F6 Hellcat, Dassault Mirage III, De Havilland 88 Comet, North American Harvard T-6, Max Holste Broussard.

Due to the lockdown, I was unable to meet Mr. Chaubet but he sent me his last delivery by post.

Après cet intermède canadien, un retour à la collection...?
Dernier avion offert par M. Chaubet et provenant de son diorama sur le Show Aérien JB Sallis de La Ferté Alais (voir ici et voir là), le même North American T-6 immatriculé F-AZBE, toujours modifié pour les besoins d'un film, mais cette fois en Grumman Hellcat avec une nouvelle livrée.


After this Canadian interlude, a return to the collection ...?
Last plane offered by Mr. Chaubet and coming from his diorama on the Air Show JB Sallis of La Ferte Alais (see here and see there), the same North American T-6 registered F-AZBE, still modified for the needs of a movie, but this time in Grumman Hellcat with a new livery.

Parmi les modèles offerts par M. Chaubet provenant de son diorama sur le Show Aérien JB Salis de La Ferté Alais (voir ici), il y a un avion curieux.


Among the models offered by Mr. Chaubet from his diorama on the Air Show JB Salis at La Ferte Alais (see here), there is a curious aircraft.

Bon, je vous aide : il s'agit d'un North American T-6.

Bon, c'est vrai qu'il a été sérieusement modifié pour les besoins d'un film, pour le faire ressembler à un P-47.

En réalité, cette modification a été possible grâce à un autre avion de North American qui a été extrapolé à partir du Bt-9, l'ancêtre du T-6, un avion simple et pas cher, le P-64, vendu uniquement au Pérou et à la Thaïlande (mais du fait de l'embargo envers ce dernier pays, c'est l'US Army Air Corps qui récupérera ces 6 avions pour les utiliser comme avions d'entrainement....).

Well, I help you: this is a North American T-6.

Well, it's true that it was seriously modified for the needs of a movie, to do it looking like a P-47.

In reality, this change was made possible by another aircraft from North American, that extrapolated from Bt-9, the ancestor of the T-6, a simple and cheap plane, the P-64, sold only in Peru and Thailand (but because the embargo against this latter country, it is the US Army Air Corps that will recover these 6 planes to use them as trainers....).

Et c'est comme ça que le North American T-6 bien connu a pu être modifié assez facilement, en suivant les plans du P-64, pour le faire ressembler à un chasseur monoplace, ici un P-47.

And that's how the well-known North American T-6 could be modified quite easily, following the P-64's plans, to make it look like a single-seat fighter, here a P-47.

Et je vous présenterai prochainement un autre T-6 modifié cette fois pour ressembler à un Grumman Hellcat.

Nouvelle pause sur les modèles réparés pour présenter un North American T-6, produit initialement par M. Chaubet, trouvé dans un état très moyen sur le second marché, que j'ai dû repeindre intégralement et le décorer, avec une planche de décalques Vector, aux couleurs des contrôleurs aériens avancés (FAC) pendant la guerre de Corée.

New break on repared models to present a North American T-6, initially produced by Mr. Chaubet, found in an average condition on the secondary market, which I had to repaint entirely and decorate it with a Vector decals sheet, in colors of forward air controllers (FAC) during the Korean war.

Le "petit dernier" que je viens de terminer : le North American T-6, nommé Harvard par ses utilisateurs britanniques ou du Commonwealth, un modèle Chaubet que j'ai trouvé sur le second marché et que j'ai entièrement repeint et redécoré.

The "youngest" I just finished : the North American T-6, named Harvard by its British or Commonwealth users, a Chaubet model I found on the secondary market and I completely repainted and redecorated.

Un cadeau - A gift : 1/144 North American Snj-5 - by Chaubet

Hier, M. Chaubet est venu à mon bureau pour me porter une partie d'une commande : un Mirage III, un Jaguar, un Shoki Tojo, un Bird Dog, tous montés et peints et qu'il me reste à décorer aux couleurs respectivement du Pakistan, Nigeria, Japon et Canada.


Yesterday, Mr. Chaubet came to my office to carry part of an order : a Mirage III, a Jaguar, a Shoki Tojo, a Bird Dog, all mounted and painted and I still have to decorate in the colors respectively of Pakistan, Nigeria, Japan and Canada.

En plus de cela, 3 kits de Westland Lynx.

In addition, 3 Westland Lynx kits.

Mais surtout, M. Chaubet m'a fait un cadeau et m'a offert un modèle unique de sa collection : un North American Snj-5 (le nom du T-6 Texan dans la marine).
En regardant bien les photos ci-dessous, vous constaterez que la particularité de ce modèle est qu'il n'est pas peint, mais simplement qu'il est entièrement poli.
Cela suppose que le modèle soit parfait à la sortie du moule et qu'il n'ait pas besoin de mastic ou autre.
Encore merci M. Chaubet.


But most importantly, Mr. Chaubet gave me a gift and offered me a unique model of its collection : a North American Snj-5 (the name of the T-6 Texan in the Navy).
Looking at the pictures below, you will find that the particularity of this model is that it is not painted, but simply that it is fully polished.
This implies that the model is perfect to leaving the mold and it does not need putty or another.
