1/144 Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor - Part 3

Prévu pour opérer sur les lignes transatlantiques (à l'époque, de tels vols n'étant réalisés que par des hydravions), le Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor sera utilisé par la compagnie aérienne danoise DDL, et bien sûr par la Lufthansa ainsi que sa filiale brésilienne Syndicato Condor.
Même la compagnie britannique BOAC a utilisé des Fw 200 Condor.


Planned to operate on the transatlantic lines (at the time, such flights being made only by seaplanes), the Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor will be used by the Danish airline DDL, and of course by Lufthansa and its Brazilian subsidiary Syndicato Condor.

Après, il a fallu mettre du mastic pour retrouver un dessous de fuselage lisse, supprimer les tourelles et les boucher.
Puis, du mastic, du ponçage, encore du mastic, encore du ponçage, remonter le modèle, encore du mastic aux jonctions des pièces, et du ponçage...


After this, it was necessary to put putty to regain a smooth fuselage below, remove the turrets and plug them.

Then, putty, sanding, putty again, sanding again, build up the model, again putty at junctions pieces, and sanding...

Je déteste le mastic.
On met du mastic, on ponce, tout à l'air bien, puis dès que l'on met l'apprêt, on voit des imperfections.
On remet encore du mastic, puis on ponce, puis tout semble à nouveau bien puis on peint la première couche.
Et là, vous constatez qu'il y a encore des imperfections.

Vous recommencez, encore et encore....

Je déteste le mastic.

I hate putty.
You put putty, sanded it, everything seems fine, then as soon as you put the primer, you see imperfections.
You still recovering putty, then sanded, then all seems well again, then painted the first layer.
And here, you see that there are still imperfections.
You start again, again and again....
I hate putty.

Puis, la peinture à la bombe Tamiya, ce qui n'a pas posé de difficultés, sauf qu'il a fallu remettre encore un peu de mastic...


Then, paint with Tamiya bomb, which did not present difficulties, except that we had to put some more mastic again...

Enfin, la finition et la pose des décalques de la maquette F-Rsin au 1/144.
Sauf que les décalques sont nombreuses car faisant partie de la décoration mais surtout assez fragiles.
Il a donc fallu faire quelques raccords avec de la peinture.


At last, finishing and setting up decals from the F-Rsin model kit at 1/144.
Except that the decals are numerous because they are part of the decoration but above all quite fragile.
It was therefore necessary to make some fittings with paint.

Encore un modèle que je ne referai pas..., mais dont je suis assez content, avec une belle livrée, alu et noir.

1/144 Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor - Part 1

Le Focke-Wulf 200 Condor est vraiment un bel avion et il est bien représenté par le fabricant Atlas au 1/144 (voir aussi ici).


The Focke-Wulf 200 Condor is really a nice aircraft and it is well realized by the manufacturer Atlas at 1/144 (see also here).

J'ai donc voulu en faire un autre, mais dans la version de transport de passagers de la Lufthansa en utilisant les décalques du modèle de F-Rsin.


So I wanted to do another one, but in the Lufthansa passenger transport version using the F-Rsin model decals.

J'ai donc acheté un 2ème modèle d'Atlas pour le modifier en version civile.
La difficulté principale a été que j'ai totalement oublié que le modèle Atlas, qui est en zamac (donc particulièrement dur), représente la version militaire avec une gondole en dessous du fuselage.
J'ai donc passé un long moment à fraiser cette gondole pour la faire disparaître, et je me suis fait engueuler car j'ai mis des copeaux de métal partout....


So I bought a 2nd Atlas model at 1/144 for change it in civil version.
The main difficulty was that I totally forgot that the Atlas model, which is in zamac (thus particularly hard), features the military version with a gondola under the fuselage.
So I spent a long time to milling this gondola to make it disappear, and I got yelled because I put metal shavings everywhere....

Puis, il a fallu boucher les trous à l'emplacement de la gondole.


Then, it was necessary to plug the holes at the location of the gondola.

Un modèle Atlas (De Agostini) de Focke-Wulf 200 Condor au 1/144, le "fléau de l'Atlantique" pour les navires alliés.
Je n'ai pas fait de modifications, même si les trains d'atterrissage sont moyennement corrects.
