Le XF5U-1, plus gros, plus lourd, entièrement en métal, équipé d'hélices tournant en sens contraire, a été conçu comme avion à faibles vitesses de décollage et d'atterrissage mais avec une vitesse de pointe élevée 452 mph (727 km/h) et aurait donc dû être le premier chasseur embarqué STOL (short take-off and landing).
Même si le projet était prometteur, celui-ci a été annulé en 1947, la marine américaine préférant se concentrer sur l'aviation à réaction, en plein essor.....
Ce concept du XF5U était très sérieux, mais cela n'a pas empêché les techniciens ou mécaniciens de garder le sens de l'humour, pour preuve, le nose art sur l'avion....
The larger, heavier, all-metal XF5U-1, equipped with counter-rotating propellers, was designed as a low take-off and landing speed aircraft but with a high top speed of 452 mph (727 km/h) and should therefore have been the first STOL (short take-off and landing) airborne fighter.
Although the project was promising, it was canceled in 1947, the American Navy preferring to concentrate on jet aviation, which was booming.....
This XF5U concept was very serious, but that did not stop the technicians or mechanics from keeping a sense of humor, as proof, the nose art on the plane....
Le modèle présenté ici provient d'un kit en résine Anigrand, mais il m'aura fallu faire deux moules pour obtenir une bonne coulée avec des détails suffisamment précis.
Le montage s'est déroulé sans problème, si ce n'est, comme d'habitude, une notice succincte.
Le seul bémol concerne les décalques des immatriculations, un peu trop grandes.
The model presented here comes from an Anigrand resin kit, but I had to make two molds to obtain a good casting with sufficiently precise details.
The assembly took place without problem, except, as usual, a brief instruction.
The only downside concerns the registration decals, which are a little too large.
