Bases de présentation - Display bases

Depuis des années, je présente mes modèles sur une simple dalle de verre de bureau, qui me sert également d'établi.

Mais pour la présentation de certains hydravions, j'ai commencé à utiliser des bases de présentation pour navires à des échelles plus réduites que le 1/144, bases que je peux creuser pour que l'hydravion puisse rester en équilibre sur son flotteur ou sa coque.

Le premier "cobaye" a été le Vought OS2U Kingfisher....

For years, I have presented my models on a simple desktop glass slab, which also serves as a workbench.

But for the presentation of certain seaplanes, I started to use display bases for ships at scales smaller than 1/144, bases that I can dig so that the seaplane can remain balanced on its float or its hull.

The first “guinea pig” was the Vought OS2U Kingfisher....

Et finalement, même si parfois il faut faire une petite opération pour rehausser une rampe pour hydravion qui n'est à l'origine qu'en illusion d'optique (voir le Sunderland) ou ajouter un accessoire, une base de présentation change tout...

Le seul problème, c'est qu'une telle base prend de la place dans une vitrine.....

And finally, even if sometimes it is necessary to do a small operation to raise a seaplane ramp which is originally only an optical illusion (see the Sunderland) or add an accessory, a display base changes everything...

The only problem is that such a display base takes up space in a display case.....

1/144 Sikorsky MH-53 Sea Dragon - by S14 Aviation Fighter Series

Comme annoncé dans le précédent post, j'ai vécu un vrai drame lors de mon dernier voyage à Tokyo.
Alors que je ne trouvais rien de nouveau en diecast au 1/144, j'ai vu dans une boutique un modèle de Sikorsky MH-53 Sea Dragon, réalisé par S14 aux couleurs japonaises, mais qui s'est avéré être un modèle limité et épuisé.

J'ai bien essayé de compenser (voir ici), mais c'était insuffisant.

Alors, comme j'avais été en rapport avec la Société S14 lors de l'achat des CH-53 Sea Stallion et MH-53 Sea Dragon (voir ici, ici et là), j'ai tenté de les contacter pour voir s'il ne leur en restait pas encore un.

Et là, divine surprise, il en restait quelques uns et j'ai réussi à en avoir un.
Et voilà un Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon aux couleurs de la Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) dont la photo de l'original a été prise sur le LSD (Landing Ship Dock) 46 USS Tortuga de l'US Navy lors d'un exercice.


As announced in the previous post, I lived a real drama during my last trip to Tokyo.
While I could not find anything new in diecast at 1/144, I saw in a shop a model of Sikorsky MH-53 Sea Dragon, made by S14 in Japanese colors, but which turned out to be a limited model and discontinued.

I tried to compensate (see here), but it was insufficient.

Then, as I had been in contact with the S14 Company when buying the CH-53 Sea Stallion and MH-53 Sea dragon (see here, here and there), I tried to contact them to see if they still had not one left.

And there, divine surprise, there were a few left and I managed to get one.
And here is a Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon in the colors of the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) whose photo of the original was taken on the LSD (Landing Ship Dock) 46 USS Tortuga of the US Navy during an exercise.

Petits achats - Small purchases

En prévision de mon voyage au Japon, espérant trouver quelque nouveauté diecast au 1/144, je n'ai même pas fait de shopping lors de mon étape à Hong Kong pour garder de la place dans la valise....
Enfin, j'ai juste acheté quelque chose, juste pour acheter.... oui, un tram.

Well, I just bought something, just to buy... yes, a tram.

Mais, ainsi que je le craignais, je n'ai pas vraiment trouvé de nouveauté diecast au 1/144 au Japon.
Enfin, ce n'est pas tout à fait ça...

Au fond d'une boutique de Akihabara, à Tokyo, j'ai vu un modèle de Sikorsky MH-53 Sea Dragon, réalisé par S14, aux couleurs japonaises, vraiment magnifique.

But, as I feared, I did not really find any new diecast at 1/144 in Japan.
Finally, it is not quite that...
At the bottom of a store in Akihabara, Tokyo, I saw a model of a Sikorsky MH-53 Sea Dragon, made by S14, in Japanese colors, really beautiful.

Je me suis précipité sur le premier vendeur pour l'acheter, lequel m'a indiqué que ce modèle, en édition limité à 300 exemplaires (enfin, c'est ce que j'ai compris) pour le dernier Shizuoka Hobby Show, était épuisé et l'exemplaire en vitrine n'était pas à vendre !!!!
Quoi !!??!! Mais alors, pourquoi le présenter s'il n'est pas à vendre ??!!??
ARGLLLLLLLL !!!! Vous imaginez la déception, le choc ?
Et j'exagère à peine...
Alors..., j'ai cherché à compenser....
J'ai commencé par des véhicules provenant des accessoires pour trains, mais que l'on peut trouver sur une base aérienne, comme ce bus américain, très classique.


I rushed on the first seller to buy it, which told me that this model, limited edition of 300 copies (well, that's what I understood) for the last Shizuoka Hobby Show, was sold out and the copy on display was not for sale !!!!
What !! ?? !! But then, why present it if it is not for sale ?? !! ??
ARGLLLLLLLL !!!! Do you imagine the disappointment, the shock ?
And I hardly exaggerate....
So ..., I tried to compensate....
I started with vehicles from train accessories, which can be found on an air base, like this American bus, very classic.

Puis, je suis quand même revenu à mes premières amours, les avions...
D'accord, j'en ai déjà un, mais il me fallait un second F1M "Pete" pour le diorama de catapulte du Yamato (voir ici).


Then, I still returned to my first love, the planes...
Okay, I already have one, but I needed a second F1M "Pete" for the catapult diorama of Yamato (see here).

Puis, dans les deux magasins Leonardo (à visiter impérativement même s'il y a peu de 1/144), un kit en métal Toki et un modèle vintage qui servira sans doute de base pour un moulage.


Then, in the two Leonardo stores (to visit necessarily even if there is few 1/144), a Toki metal kit and a vintage model that will undoubtedly serve for a molding.

Et enfin, de quoi faire un atelier de réparation, au 1/144, en carton, et un véhicule russe produit par le fabricant de décalques Liliput Air Force, qui se lance dans l'impression 3D.


And finally, something to make a repair shop at 1/144, in cardboard, and a Russian vehicle produced by the decals manufacturer Liliput Air Force, which embarks on 3D printing.

Tout ça, c'est bien, mais ça ne compense qu'à peine la déception de n'avoir pu acheter ce superbe hélicoptère S14 et de n'avoir rien trouvé d'autre au 1/144 en diecast.

All that is good, but it hardly compensates for the disappointment of not being able to buy this superb S14 helicopter and to have found nothing else at 1/144 in diecast.

1/144 Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion (2nd) - by S14 Aviation Fighter Series

Pour le 3ème (et dernier) hélicoptère Sea Stallion au 1/144, je pensais utiliser cette photo comme illustration, car S14 m'a offert un autre de ses produits, un morceau de pont d'envol de porte-aéronef d'assaut type USS Wasp (LHD-1).

For the 3rd (and last) Sea Stallion helicopter at 1/144, I thought to use this picture as an illustration, because S14 offered me another of its products, a piece of flight deck from an amphibious assault ship type USS Wasp (LHD-1).

Mais, cela m'aurait obligé à peindre toute une section de Marines....
Alors, j'ai préféré une autre configuration, aussi prévue par S14 qui fournit un second rotor à cette fin : avec les pales repliées.
Et oui, c'est ça aussi, la qualité S14.

But, that would have forced me to paint a whole section of Marines....
So, I preferred another configuration, also planned by S14 which provides a second rotor for this purpose : with blades folded.
And yes, that's also, the S14 quality.

1/144 Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon - by S14 Aviation Fighter Series

Développé à partir du CH-53E Super Stallion, et destiné à l'US Navy pour des missions de lutte contre les mines, le second modèle d'hélicoptère de S14 au 1/144 est le Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon, aux couleurs de l'Escadron d'Hélicoptère de lutte contre les Mines HM-14 "Vanguard".

La différence la plus visible concerne les flotteurs, plus grand que pour le CH-53E Super Stallion, permettant un stockage plus important de carburant et donc plus d'endurance.


Developed from the CH-53E Super Stallion, and destined to the US Navy for minesweeping missions, the second helicopter model from S14 at 1/144 is the Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon, in the markings of the Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron HM-14 'Vanguard".

The most noticeable difference is in the floats, larger than the CH-53E Super Stallion, allowing more fuel storage and therefore longer endurance.

Et j'ai attendu, attendu, attendu...
Les nouveaux modèles du fabricant japonais S14 avaient été annoncés avant l'été 2016.
J'ai passé la commande dans le courant de l'été 2016, pour apprendre en Décembre suivant que la production des nouveaux modèles était reportée au Printemps pour des problèmes de qualité.
J'ai donc attendu...
Et puis, j'ai reçu, il y a quelques jours, un mail m'informant que "ça y est", la production était réalisée et allait être envoyée.
Puis, une semaine après, 3 grosses boites sont arrivées (présentées ici).
Je ne suis pas déçu d'avoir attendu si longtemps.
Ces hélicos sont vraiment magnifiques et très détaillés !!

Voici le premier des 3 hélicoptères réalisés par S14 Aviation Fighter Series au 1/144 : Le Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion, extrapolé à partir du Ch-53D Sea Stallion, dont les principales modifications sont l'addition d'un troisième moteur et d'une septième pale au rotor principal, un basculement du rotor de queue de 20 degrés, et un allongement du fuselage.


And I waited, waited, waited...
The new models of the Japanese manufacturer S14 had been announced before the summer of 2016.
I placed the order in the summer of 2016, to learn in the following December that the production of the new models was postponed to Spring due to quality problems.
I therefore waited...
And then, I received, a few days ago, a mail informing me that "it's there", the production was realized and was going to be sent.
Then, a week later, 3 big boxes arrived (presented here).
I'm not disappointed to have waited so long.
These helicopters are really beautiful and very detailed !!

Here is the first of 3 helicopters made by S14 Aviation Fighter Series at 1/144 : The Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion, extrapolated from the Ch-53D Sea Stallion, the main modifications are the addition of a third motor and a seventh blade to the main rotor, a tail rotor tilt of 20 degrees, and an elongation of the fuselage.
