Le Short Sunderland, ici réalisé par Corgi au 1/144, est un sacré morceau, impressionnant avec sa coque de bateau, immense à l’intérieur, qui peut être visité au RAF Museum de Hendon (on peut sans peine imaginer comment il a pu servir à rapatrier des soldats pendant l’évacuation de l’ile de Crète : avec un équipage de 10 hommes, chaque Sunderland emportait 80 soldats..).

The Short Sunderland, here produced by Corgi at 1:144, is a big piece, with its impressive boat hull, huge inside, which can be visited at the RAF Museum in Hendon (one can easily imagine how it could be used to repatriate soldiers during the evacuation of the island of Crete with crew of 10, each Sunderland carried 80 soldiers ...).

Cet hydravion servira pendant la 2ème guerre mondiale sur toutes les mers, et encore jusque dans les années 60.
Son armement défensif, 18 mitrailleuses, le fera surnommer « porc-épic » par les pilotes allemands.
This flying-boat will be used on all the seas during the second world war, and even into the 60s.
