1/144 Percival Q6 Petrel

Il y a quelques années, j'ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à réaliser un Percival Q6 Petrel en métal, sur la base d'un kit en résine de Terry Patrick (voir ici).

C'est un petit avion aux lignes très agréables et j'ai toujours eu en tête d'en faire un autre....

Restait à trouver une livrée un peu originale.

Voici donc, après l'avoir coulé en métal, un second Petrel, cette fois dans une livrée de la Force Royale égyptienne et plus particulièrement du Royal Flight qui semble avoir eu deux Q6.

A few years ago, I had a lot of fun making a Percival Q6 Petrel in metal, based on a resin kit by Terry Patrick (see here).

It is a small plane with very nice lines and I always had in mind to make another one....

All that remained was to find a somewhat original livery.

So here, after having cast it in metal, is a second Petrel, this time in a livery of the Royal Egyptian Air Force and more particularly of the Royal Flight which seems to have had two Q6s, but of which I have only found a photo of one,  mais dont je n'ai trouvé une photo que d'un seul.

 Il y a quelques années, déjà..., lors du Scale ModelWorld 2019, j'ai trouvé sur le stand du SIG144 quelques kits en résine réalisés par un de ses membres, Terry Patrick, et dont j'ai bien sûr acheté un modèle, celui du  Percival Q6 Petrel.

Il s'agit d'un avion de transport civil mais qui a été largement utilisé, après réquisitions, comme avion de liaison par la RAF ou la Royal Navy pendant la 2e guerre mondiale.

A few years ago, already..., during Scale ModelWorld 2019, I found on the SIG144 stand some resin kits made by one of its members, Terry Patrick, and of course I bought a model , that of the Percival Q6 Petrel.

It is a civil transport aircraft but which was widely used, after requisitions, as a liaison aircraft by the RAF or the Royal Navy during the 2nd World War.

La configuration du kit résine a permis de faire une jolie coulée, bien propre.

The configuration of the resin kit made it possible to make a nice, very clean cast.

Le montage et la décoration se sont déroulés sans problèmes, notamment après avoir passé un coup de vernis brillant sur les décalques car elles étaient un peu cassantes (peut être aussi parce je les avais depuis longtemps....).

J'ai donc choisi la décoration proposée avec la boîte et provenant du fabriquant Arctic Decals, d'un des deux avions de la compagnie aérienne Lituanienne, avant que ses deux seuls avions soient "récupérés" par les soviétiques après l'invasion du pays en 1940.

Finalement, j'ai eu tellement de plaisir à le couler et construire que j'ai une idée pour un prochain....

The assembly and the decoration took place without problems, in particular after applying a gloss varnish to the decals because they were a little brittle (maybe also because I had had them for a long time....).

So I chose the decoration proposed with the box and coming from the manufacturer Arctic Decals, of one of the two planes of the Lithuanian airline, before its only two planes were "recovered" by the Soviets after the invasion of the country in 1940.

Finally, I had so much fun casting and building it that I have an idea for a next one....

Rapport sur les vacances - Holidays Report

Oui, je suis enfin rentré, mais les "vacances" ont été bien studieuses.

Entre la tronçonneuse, la débroussailleuse, la cloueuse, la visseuse sans oublier le pinceau, et j'en oublie, j'ai pu faire quelques moules et couler des modèles.

Voici quelques photos des moules et ce qui est sorti après le coulage, avec ou sans ébavurage.

Yes, I am finally home, but the "holidays" was very studious.

Between the chainsaw, the brush cutter, the nailer, the screwdriver without forgetting the brush, and I forget some, I was able to make a few molds and cast models.
