1/144 Suez Westland Wyvern

Pas de post ces prochains jours pour cause de vacances après ces confinements et autres restrictions de déplacement.

En attendant, retour sur le Westland Wyvern présenté récemment, avec une nouvelle décoration, plus chatoyante....., celle de l'opération Mousquetaire, l'intervention Franco-Britannique après la nationalisation du Canal de Suez par le président égyptien Nasser.

Curieusement, je n'ai pas trouvé beaucoup de photos d'avions Wyvern portant les bandes jaunes et noires de cette opération.

In the meantime, return to the Westland Wyvern presented recently, with a new decoration, more shimmering ....., that of Operation Musketeer, the Anglo-French military intervention after the nationalization of the Suez Canal by Egyptian President Nasser.

Oddly enough, I didn't find many photos of Wyvern planes bearing the yellow and black stripes from this operation.

Alors, comme photo de référence, il faudra se contenter de l'avion présenté, mais avant qu'il reçoive les bandes jaunes et noires.

Sur le modèle, ces bandes sont les décalques du kit Miniwings et heureusement qu'elles sont de bonne qualité, car leur pose a été un peu compliquée à cause des différentes excroissances présentes sur les ailes.

So, as a reference photo, it will be necessary to be satisfied with the presented plane, but before it receives the yellow and black stripes.

On the model, these stripes are the decals of the Miniwings kit and luckily they are of good quality, because their installation was a little complicated due to the various growths present on the wings.

1/144 Kayaba Ka-2

A partir de l'autogire américain Kellett KD-1A (basé lui-même sur l'autogire Cierva C.30), endommagé lors de sa livraison au Japon, la Société Kayaba a développé un appareil similaire, le Kayaba Ka-1, dont le premier vol est intervenu en mai 1941, et qui a été affecté au réglage d'artillerie ou de liaisons.

From the American Kellett KD-1A autogyro (itself based on the Cierva C.30 autogyro), damaged during its delivery to Japan, the Kayaba Company developed a similar device, the Kayaba Ka-1, of which the first flight took place in May 1941, and which was assigned to artillery spotting or liaison missions.

Le Ka-2, qui est un développement du premier modèle avec cette fois un moteur en étoile, a vu sa production limitée en raison du manque de composants.

A partir de 1943-1944, les autogires Ka-1 et Ka-2 ont été affectés au rôle d'avions de patrouille anti-sous-marine, d'abord à partir du porte-avions d'escorte Akitsu Maru jusqu'à ce qu'il soit coulé en novembre 1944, puis à terre, participant à la protection de la dernière route maritime entre Pusan (Corée) et le Japon.

Le modèle présenté provient d'un kit en résine de Kami de Koro Koro dont seul le fuselage a été coulé en métal, toutes les autres pièces étant trop fines.

The Ka-2, which is a development of the first model, this time with a star-cylinder engine, saw its production limited due to the lack of components.

From 1943-1944, the Ka-1 and Ka-2 autogyroes were assigned to the role of anti-submarine patrol aircraft, first from the escort carrier Akitsu Maru until that it was sunk in November 1944, then on land, participating in the protection of the last sea route between Pusan (Korea) and Japan.

The model presented comes from a Kami de Koro Koro resin kit of which only the fuselage was cast in metal, all the other parts being too thin.

Il aura fallu utiliser, en même temps : le scalpel, la lime, la colle et surtout, une bonne bordée de jurons....😁

Et voici donc le résultat.

1/144 Westland Wyvern

Dans le cadre de la commande passée à M. Chaubet d'un moule complet de modèles qu'il ne ferait jamais (voir ici), figure le Westland Wyvern, créé sur la base d'un kit en résine Miniwings.

Cet avion dont la conception date de 1944 pour succéder au Bristol Beaufighter, y compris emporter une torpille...., a réalisé son premier vol en 1946 mais sa version définitive , le S.4, n'est entrée en service qu'en 1954.

Même à cette date, les problèmes ont persisté, et le Westland Wyvern a le privilège d'être le seul avion dont son pilote s'est éjecté SOUS l'eau....., car le moteur s'éteignait habituellement lors du catapultage, gênant pour un avion de porte-avions.....

As part of the order placed to Mr. Chaubet for a complete mold of models that he would never make (see here) , appears the Westland Wyvern, created on the basis of a Miniwings resin kit.

This aircraft whose design dates from 1944 to succeed the Bristol Beaufighter, including carrying a torpedo ..., made its first flight in 1946 but its final version, the S.4, did not enter service until 1954.

Even then, the problems persisted, and the Westland Wyvern has the privilege of being the only aircraft whose pilot has ejected UNDERwater..... because the engine usually turned off during catapulting, annoying for an aircraft carrier plane....

Le montage de ce modèle s'est effectué sans problèmes, même si la peinture a été un peu délicate à cause du camouflage sur le dessus et les côtés du fuselage avec les échappements moteur.

Alors, pour vous présenter le Westland Wyvern, j'avais pensé à ça.....

The assembly of this model went smoothly, although the paintwork was a bit tricky due to the camouflage on the top and sides of the fuselage with the engine exhausts.

So, to introduce you to the Westland Wyvern, I thought about that .....

Ce n'est pas tellement la coque du porte-avions qui posait problème...., mais je n'arrivais à lire l'immatriculation de l'avion.....😂😂😂😎😇

Alors, il faudra se contenter d'une image plus classique pour illustrer ce Westland Wyvern, que j'ai décoré avec les excellentes décalcomanies de Berna Decals.

It was not so much the hull of the aircraft carrier that was the problem ...., but I could not read the registration of the aircraft ..... 😂😂😂😎😇

So, it will be necessary to be satisfied with a more classic image to illustrate this Westland Wyvern, which I decorated with the excellent decals from Berna Decals.

1/144 Nakajima Ki-27 Nate

Cela fait des années que je voulais faire ce modèle (dont j'ai déjà deux exemplaires....voir les liens ci-dessous) avec cette décoration capot moteur et queue en noir, que je trouve si chic....

Mais il y avait deux choses qui m'arrêtaient :

- l'impossibilité de trouver la moindre photo d'époque d'un avion avec cette livrée,

- et le doute que j'avais à réussir le fin pourtour blanc autour du noir de la queue...

Et puis, j'ai enfin trouvé :

- la photo justifiant de cette décoration (sauf le capot noir attribué à un chef d'escadrille)

- le courage de me lancer dans cette peinture du blanc....(il faut dire que je déteste peindre le blanc, le jaune et le rouge....)

Et voici donc ce Nakajima Ki-27 "Nate" provenant d'un kit en métal Toki, toujours aussi agréable à monter, avec cette fameuse décoration portée par un régiment aérien indépendant en Chine du Nord (Mandchourie).

For years I wanted to make this model (of which I already have two copies.... see the links below) with this engine cover and tail decoration in black, which I find so chic....

But there were two things that were stopping me:

- the impossibility of finding any vintage photo of an airplane with this livery,

- and the doubt that I had to succeed in the fine white border around the black of the tail...

And then, I finally found:

- the photo justifying this decoration (except the black hood attributed to a squadron leader)

- the courage to embark on this painting of white .... (I must say that I hate painting white, yellow and red ....)

And here is this Nakajima Ki-27 "Nate" coming from a Toki metal kit, always so pleasant to assemble, with this famous decoration worn by an independent air regiment in North China (Manchuria).

1/144 Heinkel He 112B

Moulé et coulé à partir à partir d'un kit en résine de Fairy Kikaku, un Heinkel He 112B.

Molded and casted from a Fairy Kikaku resin kit, a Heinkel He 112B.

Attention, il faut préciser que le Heinkel 112 comporte toute une série de variantes, parfois très différentes les unes des autres.

Please note that the Heinkel 112 has a whole series of variants, sometimes very different from each other.

La version 112B, la plus reconnaissable avec sa longue verrière, a fait ses débuts pendant la guerre civile espagnole puis a servi principalement avec les alliés de l'Allemagne, à savoir la Hongrie et la Roumanie.

C'est donc une livrée roumaine que j'ai finalement choisie pour décorer ce modèle, dont le coulage puis le montage se sont déroulés sans problème particulier (une fois avoir bien travaillé le kit en résine initial....).

The 112B version, the most recognizable with its long canopy, made its debut during the Spanish Civil War and then served mainly with the allies of Germany, namely Hungary and Romania.

It is therefore a Romanian livery that I finally chose to decorate this model, the casting of which then the assembly took place without any particular problem (once I had worked well on the initial resin kit ...).

1/144 Max Holste Broussard

 Comme j'avais bien aimé le Max Holste Broussard réalisé aux couleurs françaises par M. Chaubet (voir ici), j'ai voulu en avoir un autre dans des couleurs un peu différentes.

Après maintes recherches, et ayant trouvé un Broussard aux couleurs du Royaume du Maroc, j'en ai donc commandé à M. Chaubet un autre, tout monté et pré-peint.

Pourquoi pré-peint ?

J'ai dû refaire la peinture réalisée par M. Chaubet, car j'avais choisi une photo d'un avion redécoré (avec une livrée inexacte) et pas sur un avion avec l'exacte livrée marocaine....

Puis après, pose des décalques et voici un Max Holste Broussard aux couleurs exactes des Forces Royales Marocaines.

As I liked the Max Holste Broussard made in French colors by M. Chaubet (see here), I wanted to have another in slightly different colors.

After much research, and having found a Broussard in the colors of the Kingdom of Morocco, I therefore ordered another from Mr. Chaubet, all built and pre-painted.

Why pre-painted?

I had to redo the painting done by Mr. Chaubet, because I had chosen a photo of a redecorated plane (with an inaccurate livery) and not on a plane with the exact Moroccan livery ....

Then after, apply decals and here is a Max Holste Broussard in the exact colors of the Moroccan Royal Forces.
