1/144 Fire Brigade - Part 6 : Thornycroft Nubian Major

It had been a long time ..... since I had not built a vehicle.

Based on a metal kit from PG Models (which unfortunately ceased its activity), here is a Thornycroft Nubian Major fire truck, in the colors of the RAF.

If the assembly and the painting did not pose any difficulties, the longest was the installation of the yellow bands of decals, and the cutouts that this required ....

Suddenly, if I do a second, it will be red, because in this color there are much less markings .....😀

1/144 Queen Mary Trailer & Coles crane

It's been a while since I wanted to make these models corresponding to the Airfix box of the RAF Recovery set.

Nostalgia, nostalgia ...

But it was difficult to find a quality Queen Mary Trailer until Panzerfabrik (at Shapeways) made it, with the addition of the Thornycroft Amazon truck and the Coles crane.

First part, the Queen Mary trailer finely produced in 3D printing.

The only problem was that the tractor that came with the trailer did not match the truck on the boxart.

So I had to modify a Bedford OYD from Arrowhead Miniatures to turn it into a Bedford OX.

Second part, the Thornycroft Amazon truck on which is installed a Coles crane (which was also found on Matador vehicles).

Third piece, on the trailer, an airplane (at least the fuselage) Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Tr.IX with the first Indian Air Force cockades (just because I find them pretty and I had no other opportunity to put them on another model ...)

Et enfin, voici le Airfix RAF Recovery Set au 1/144....

1/144 Canon anti-aérien mobile - AA Gun Carrier Truck

When we talk about airplanes, we must also think to Anti Aircraft Artillery.
Among its production, Skytrex made a truck with several options : anti-aircraft machine guns or canon.
To accompany the models aircraft of the 1st World War, I painted one of these Skytrex trucks, but I think it would be better for the interwar period RAF aircraft.
I intend to redo with another camouflage.

After a number of internet research and a visit to a museum (Duxford ?), I saw a truck with anti aircraft gun can be easily done with a Skytrex truck model.

It took to open the sides of the body for the gun platform, install a box at the back of the cabin with a tarpaulin above. Then shorten the canon so that it conforms to those of the time.
