1/144 North American P-51D Mustang "Cloud Dancer"

A model that I ordered fully assembled and painted from Mr. Chaubet and on which I applied decals from Draw Decal to create one of the planes used to the Reno races, the Mustang P-51 "Cloud Dancer" flown during long by its owner Jimmy Leeward, before he died during a flight with another Mustang....

Another Mustang ?
Yes, it's like for the Bader's Hawker Hurricane (see here)...
I actually already have a few...
But, there too, there is a good reason.... (there is always one ....) 😇

This time, the good reason is that it is the only P-51B Mustang in metal, at 1/144, with a Malcolm Hood canopy, i.e. the domed canopy on the sides allowing a better vision for the pilot, in particular towards the rear.

So, when I found it on sale with the Hurricane of Bader, both made by Diverse Images, a guarantee of quality, I did not hesitate either...

For this model, I decided to do "in the fantasy".

Non, non, pas comme ça...
Plutôt des marquages plus exotiques... Connaissez-vous cette cocarde ?

No, no, not like that...

Rather more exotic markings... Do you know this roundel ?

This is the roundel of the Aviation Corps of Haiti, one of the few ephemeral air forces, created at the end of the Second World War and who disappeared in 1994, which I used to decorate, after have repainted it, this F-51 Mustang from an Ellwes Icarus Aircraft model.

M. Chaubet est revenu ! Mr Chaubet is back !

Oui !

But I am not going to work this weekend, because I go to London to see the Imperial War Museum after works and redevelopment.

1/144 North American F-6 Mustang - by Chaubet

No, I did not make a mistake in the title: the F-6 Mustang really existed.

This is in fact the reconnaissance version of the P-51 Mustang, which it kept the same name (which is why this aircraft is not well known), and also has retained the armament, unlike the Lockheed F-5 (P-38) or Spitfire.

It is made here by Mr. Chaubet at 1/144 in the colors of the single squadron of French Air Force who was equipped with it, until the end of 1953.

The second model at 1/44 scale of the manufacturer ModelArt in the colors of Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots of the U.S. armed forces.

Such as for the first model (see here), it took to repaint one of the two wings, above and below, to remove the nationality Star which appeared on both sides of each wing.
