Provenant d'un lot de kits en métal réalisés par un fabriquant qui n'entendait pas continuer les modèles d'avion, voici un De Havilland DH 108 Swallow, que j'ai monté, peint et décoré.
Inspiré sans doute par le Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet, tout au moins concernant le choix d'un seul stabilisateur vertical, et basé sur certaines parties du De Havilland Vampire (nez, cockpit, partie du fuselage....) le De Havilland Swallow a été décliné en 3 prototypes.
Le premier prototype, TG283, a effectué son premier vol en mai 1946, pour des recherches sur basses vitesses. Ce premier prototype s'écrasera finalement en 1950, tuant son pilote.
Le second prototype, TG306, lors d'un vol de septembre 1946, s'est écrasé après avoir subi des défaillances structurelles à près de mach 1, tuant son pilote, Geoffrey de Havilland Jr.
Coming from a batch of metal kits made by a manufacturer who did not intend to continue with the airplane models, here is a De Havilland DH 108 Swallow, which I assembled, painted and decorated.

Une fois monté et peint, j'ai longtemps hésité à poser les décalcomanies sur ce modèle, tellement je le trouvais beau "sans artifices", avec ses lignes si pures...
Once assembled and painted, I hesitated for a long time to put the decals on this model, I found it so beautiful "without artifice", with its pure lines ...
Pour démarrer cette nouvelle année, un petit travail de décalcomanies. Enfin, pas si petit que ça....
Un modèle de tour de contrôle mobile sur un châssis de camion Bedford MK, réalisé par le fabricant PG Models (avant qu'il n'arrête, lui aussi....)
Si le montage et la peinture n'ont pas posé de problèmes, il n'en a pas été de même de la pose de décalques : J'ai fait une véritable hécatombe de croix rouges....
Et voici donc le résultat.
To start this new year, a little work of decals. Well, not so small that ....
A model of a mobile control tower on a Bedford MK truck chassis, made by the manufacturer PG Models (before he stopped, too ....)
If the assembly and the painting did not pose any problems, it was not the same for the installation of decals: I made a real slaughter of the red crosses....
And so here is the result.
Je pensais que cette nouvelle année commencerait sous de meilleurs auspices, mais elle semble bien proche de la précédente, du moins pour l'instant.
En feuilletant un très vieux magazine, et en comparant certains des modèles que j'avais, je me suis rendu compte que j'avais été très largement influencé, parfois inconsciemment, par une célèbre marque de maquettes, que beaucoup d'entre vous ont dû connaître....
Alors, un petit souvenir d'une période sans virus, sans masque, sans confinement, etc, un petit souvenir de ces maquettes qui nous ont fait rêver et qui sont présentées ici au 1/144.... (hélas, sans le boxart, mais un jour peut être.....).
I thought this new year would start off in a better way, but it looks pretty close to the last, at least for now.
As I leafed through a very old magazine, and compared some of the models I had, I realized that I had been very heavily influenced, sometimes unconsciously, by a famous brand of model kits, that many of you must have known ....
So, a small memory of a period without virus, without mask, without lockdown, etc., a small memory of these models which made us dream and which are presented here at 1/144 ... (alas, without the boxart, but one day may be .....).
