Un cadeau - A gift : 1/144 North American Snj-5 - by Chaubet

Hier, M. Chaubet est venu à mon bureau pour me porter une partie d'une commande : un Mirage III, un Jaguar, un Shoki Tojo, un Bird Dog, tous montés et peints et qu'il me reste à décorer aux couleurs respectivement du Pakistan, Nigeria, Japon et Canada.

Mais surtout, M. Chaubet m'a fait un cadeau et m'a offert un modèle unique de sa collection : un North American Snj-5 (le nom du T-6 Texan dans la marine).
En regardant bien les photos ci-dessous, vous constaterez que la particularité de ce modèle est qu'il n'est pas peint, mais simplement qu'il est entièrement poli.
Cela suppose que le modèle soit parfait à la sortie du moule et qu'il n'ait pas besoin de mastic ou autre.
Encore merci M. Chaubet.

1/144 Caudron Simoun - by Chaubet

Un avion qui a eu une grande carrière dans le transport de courrier et utilisé par l'Armée de l'Air comme avion de liaison : le Caudron Simoun.
Il fait partie des premiers modèles de ma collection et à l'époque, n'ayant pas le sens de l'échelle 1/144, j'ai cru que M. Chaubet s'était trompé et qu'il avait fait un avion au 1/200.
C'est dire s'il est vraiment petit.
Désolé M. Chaubet...


A plane that had a great career in mail transport and used by the French Air Force as a liaison aircraft : the Caudron Simoun (name of a wind of the Sahara).
It is part of the first models of my collection and at the time, having no sense of scale 1/144, I believed that Mr. Chaubet was mistaken and he had made a plane to 1/200 .

Le second camion de pompiers est un véhicule Opel Blitz basé sur un modèle en métal au 1/144 de Wargames South (pour voir le modèle d'origine [Lien]) .
J'ai modifié le modèle en supprimant la caisse pour installer une citerne, divers accessoires et repeint.

1/144 Kawasaki T-4

Un modèle sur la base des magnifiques kits de M. Toki au 1/144 : Un kawasaki T-4, avion d'entrainement également utilisé par la patrouille acrobatique Blue Impulse de l'armée de l'air japonaise.
Comme pour tous les kits de M. Toki, il n'y a eu aucune difficulté de montage.
Le plus dur a été de trouver des décalques, mais Myk Design Decals a réalisé deux belles planches pour les T-4.


A model based on the beautiful kits from Mr. Toki at 1/144 : A Kawasaki T-4, a training aircraft also used by the Blue Impulse, the aerobatic team of the Japanese Air Force.
As with all kits from Mr Toki, there was no difficulty for mounting.
The hardest part was to find decals, but Myk Design Decals made ​​two beautiful sheets for the T-4.

Kawasaki T-4 Blue Impulse

Peinture aux boudins - Paint with sausages + 1/144 Savoia Marchetti Sm.79

Pour la peinture, les modèles au 1/144 étant pour la plupart très petits, je n'utilise pas d'aérographe et je n'envisage pas, pour l'instant, d'en acheter.

En plus, si une décoration d'avion peut avoir des contours flous dans la réalité, à l'échelle du 1/144, elle peut donner l'impression d'être "à bords francs".

Mais, il y a toujours des exceptions, et certaines décorations peuvent avoir besoin de donner un aspect flou.

J'ai commencé à me pencher sur le problème après avoir acheté un modèle Atlas (De Agostini) de Savoia Marchetti Sm.79.

Certains avions italiens de la seconde guerre mondiale avaient des camouflages assez compliqués et je trouvais que le modèle d'Atlas était vraiment basique avec seulement 2 couleurs.


For painting, 1/144 models are mostly very small, I do not use airbrush and I do not intend, for the moment, to buy one.

In addition, if an aircraft decoration may have fuzzy contours in reality, at the scale of 1/144, it may give the impression of being "straight edges".

But there are always exceptions, and some decorations may need to look blurry.

I started to look into the problem after buying a Savoia Marchetti SM.79 Atlas (De Agostini) model.

Some Italian aircraft of the Second World War had camouflages quite complicated and I thought that the Atlas model was really basic with only 2 colors.

J'ai donc décidé de compléter ce camouflage en faisant des taches marrons en me basant sur certains Sm.79 au camouflage à trois couleurs.

La difficulté est de ne pas endommager le camouflage existant, ainsi que les cocardes et autres insignes de nationalité et d'escadrille.

J'ai donc opté pour des boudins de pâte à modeler en les faisant bien cylindriques et pas écrasés.

Comme ça, en passant de la peinture à la bombe, bien verticalement, l'arrondi du cylindre laisse un espace dans lequel la peinture peut se poser en donnant un aspect flou.


So I decided to complete this camouflage by making brown spots based on some three-color camouflage SM.79.

The challenge is to avoid damaging the existing camouflage, as well as roundels and other insignia of nationality and squadron.

So I opted for plasticine sausages,  making them very cylindrical and not crushed.

So, using spray painting, vertically, the rounding of the plasticine cylinder leaves a space in which the paint may lay and give a blurred aspect.

Et voilà le résultat.
