Shuttleworth Collection

Le compte rendu de ce déplacement en Angleterre.
En premier, la visite de l'Imperial War Museum Duxford, qui m'a laissé un gout amer.
Je savais que l'American Museum était fermé lors de ma visite (ré-ouverture le 19 mars), ce que les caissiers m'ont confirmé.
Mais je pensais qu'il y avait suffisamment à voir ailleurs sur le site.
Mais, ce que personne n'a indiqué et qui n'était pas mentionné sur le site web, cest que le Land Warfare était aussi fermé (alors qu'il n'était pas concerné par les travaux) et qu'il n'y a pas eu de diminution du prix de l'entrée....
Cette attitude vient après la réfection de l'Imperial War Museum London, vraiment ratée, maintenant qu'ont été enlevées la Trench Experience originale (la nouvelle ressemble à du carton-pâte) et surtout la Blitz Experience, sans parler de ce sentiment de "minimalisme" ridicule dans ce bâtiment superbe.

Bon, heureusement que j'ai pu voir le reste du musée et voir le vol d'un De Havilland Dragon Rapide.


The report of this travel in England.
First, a visit to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, which left me with a bitter taste.
I knew that the American Museum was closed when I visited (re-opening March 19), as confirmed by the cashiers.
But I thought there was enough to see elsewhere on the site.
But what no one has mentioned and which was not mentioned on the website, is that the Land Warfare was also closed (while it was not affected by the works) and there has been no reduction in the price of admission....
This attitude comes after the rehabilitation of the Imperial War Museum London, really failed, now that were removed the original Trench Experience (the new looks like "papier mache") and especially the Blitz Experience, not to speak about this ridiculous "minimalism" feeling in this magnificent building.

Well, fortunately I could see the rest of the museum and see the flight of a De Havilland Dragon Rapide.

Mais, il n'y a pas que l'Imperial War Museum dans la vie (vous avez compris, je suis bougon).
A environ 45 minutes de Duxford, il y a une collection privée, absolument merveilleuse, qui ne comporte pratiquement que des avions en état de marche, et qui volent régulièrement lors d'Airshows : C'est la Shuttleworth Collection.

Ci-après quelques modèles d'avions présentés dans ce musée (avec quelques voitures et motos aussi en état de marche).
Je ne vous en présente pas beaucoup car VOUS DEVEZ VRAIMENT y aller.

Et comme je suis un mec sympa, qu'est ce qui dépend aussi de la Shuttleworth Collection ?

Le Swiss Garden où votre femme peut profiter d'un magnifique jardin pendant que vous trainez dans les hangars juste à côté...

But life is not just the Imperial War Museum (you understand, I'm grumpy).
Approximately 45 mins of Duxford, there is a private collection, absolutely wonderful, which has almost only aircraft in working order, which fly regularly during Airshows : This is the Shuttleworth Collection.

Below are some aircraft presented in this museum (with a few cars and motorcycles as roadworthy).
I do not show you a lot because YOU MUST REALLY go there.

And since I'm a nice guy, what belongs to the Shuttleworth Collection ?

Shuttleworth Collection Part 2

1/144 Piasecki HUP-2 Retriever

Pas de message les prochains jours en raison d'un déplacement en Angleterre, où je vais essayer de visiter la Shuttleworth Collection et l'Imperial War Museum Duxford (même si l'American Air Museum ne sera pas encore ouvert après un an de travaux).

Je serai obligé d'y revenir...

En attendant, parmi la production de M. Chaubet du mois d'Octobre (voir ici), j'avais commandé un Piasecki HUP-2, simplement monté et peint, que je viens de finir de décorer aux couleurs de l'US Navy.

Le Piasecki HUP-2, hélicoptère bi-rotor, a été principalement utilisé par l'US Navy et la Marine Nationale pour surveiller les manœuvres d’appontage et de décollage de porte-avions.

Il a été très peu utilisé par l'US Army, sous le nom de H-25 Army Mule, qui les a transférés à la Navy.


No message the next few days due to travel to England, where I will try to visit the Shuttleworth Collection and the Imperial War Museum Duxford (although the American Air Museum will not open after a year of works).

Meanwhile, from the production of Mr. Chaubet of October (see here), I ordered a Piasecki HUP-2, simply assembled and painted, which I just finished to decorate in the colors of the US Navy.

The Piasecki HUP-2, two rotors helicopter, was primarily used by the US Navy and the French Navy  to watch the landing and takeoff maneuvers of aircraft carrier.

It was rarely used by the US Army, under the name H-25 Army Mule, which transferred them to the Navy.

1/144 North American T-6

Nouvelle pause sur les modèles réparés pour présenter un North American T-6, produit initialement par M. Chaubet, trouvé dans un état très moyen sur le second marché, que j'ai dû repeindre intégralement et le décorer, avec une planche de décalques Vector, aux couleurs des contrôleurs aériens avancés (FAC) pendant la guerre de Corée.

New break on repared models to present a North American T-6, initially produced by Mr. Chaubet, found in an average condition on the secondary market, which I had to repaint entirely and decorate it with a Vector decals sheet, in colors of forward air controllers (FAC) during the Korean war.

1/144 Dornier Do 17Z

Les réparés - Part 6

Présenté après quelques travaux de peinture, un modèle Altaya-Ixo de Dornier Do 17Z au 1/144, la dernière version avant la série des 217 (voir ici),  de ce bombardier créé au début des années 30 avec un fuselage si fin qu'il sera surnommé le "crayon volant".

Mais bien que la décoration de cet avion soit bien connue, je n'ai pas réussi à trouver la moindre photo le concernant, si ce n'est la tombe provisoire de son pilote, après que l'avion ait été abattu au dessus de l'Angleterre pendant le Blitz.


The repaired - Part 6

Presented after some paint works, an Altaya-Ixo Dornier Do 17Z model at 1/144, the latest version before the 217 series (see here), of this bomber created in the early 30s with a fuselage so thin that it was nicknamed the "flying pencil".

But although the livrery of this aircraft is well known, I did not find any picture on it, except the temporary grave of its pilot after the plane was shot down over the England during the Blitz.

Les réparés - Part 6

Successeur de l'Etendard IV (voir ici), le Super Etendard est un avion de chasse et d'attaque (pouvant être porteur d'un missile nucléaire) qui a eu son heure de gloire sous les couleurs argentines pendant la guerre des Malouines durant laquelle, associé au missile Exocet, il a coulé deux navires britanniques.

Initialement, le modèle réalisé par M. Chaubet au 1/144 était aux couleurs françaises mais, après son "accident" et les dégâts sur la peinture, comme je n'ai pas réussi à retrouver la couleur d'origine, je l'ai entièrement repeint aux couleurs de la marine argentine.

Pour la décoration, j'ai utilisé la planche de décalques Vector qui propose également des marquages français et irakiens.

Mais, pour le drapeau vertical et horizontal de queue, il a fallu manier le scalpel car la planche Vector ne comporte que des bandes blanches, pas très couvrantes.


The repaired - Part 6

Successor of the Etendard IV (see here), the Super Etendard is a fighter and attack aircraft (including carrying a nuclear missile) which had its heyday under the Argentine colors during the Falklands War, during which, associated with the Exocet missile, it sank two British ships.

Initially, the model made by Mr. Chaubet at 1/144 was in the French colors, but after his "accident" and damage to the painting, as I have not been able to find the original color, I completely repainted it in the colors of the Argentine navy.

For decoration, I used the Vector decal sheet which also offers French and Iraqi markings.

But for the vertical and horizontal tail flag, it was necessary to wield the scalpel because the Vector sheet has only white stripes, not very opaque.
