1/144 Heinkel He 177 - Part 1

To start this new year, the story of a model wich stayed for a long time on the workbench and that made me suffer a lot.

Indeed, when I bought this Heinkel 177 produced by Atlas, I found that the decoration was somewhat ordinary and I decided to do another one.

But, the one envisaged initially was made by Ixo-Altaya for its own model and I had to find another.

The decoration I have finally chosen required to repaint entirely the model, with the "canted corners" of the German camouflage of the time.

Then, the hardest part was of course scribbles in light gray, different because denser and tighter on the fuselage than on the wings (one can think that in view of the surface area, the mechanics worked to economy....).

To manage these scribbles, I used toothpicks, changed whenever the tip became softer due to the paint.
Can you imagine the time spent and the herbal tea liters to stay calm ?

For the landing gear, I used those of Altaya-Ixo model, more conform than those of the Atlas model.

A suivre...

Finally, the placing of the latest decals, which had to be shortened because the ones I had were too big.
Too easy...
Well, the final results will be presented in the next post.
To follow...

1/144 Opel Blitz ambulance

An indispensable vehicle on any airbase, the ambulance, here the Opel Blitz, created from the Pro-Hobby metal model on which I removed the dump to replace it with the ambulance part, in resin, from another manufacturer which I forgot the name.

Well, now, if a manufacturer is willing to do the Austin ambulance..., like that of the Airfix kit, but at 1/144 scale ((UPDATE : It's done, see below).

Well, what would you like as gift for Christmas ? A Lego-built car ?

No, it is useless. But as a decorative object, you would not prefer an aircraft carrier in Lego ?
It is nicer, it does not take up space, and your wife will say nothing...

Ou vous préférez celui-là ?

Or you prefer that one ?

Eventually, I may be a bit crazy, but I'm not the only one...
Come on, I go back to my own work.
Merry Christmas !

VERSUS : F/A-18C Hornet & F/A-18E/F Super Hornet

To continue the series of comparisons, that of the Hornet and Super Hornet (already presented here and there).
Bigger, more powerful, and even though it kept the same name, this is not completely the same plane.

1/250 Paradair - Part 2

In the previous post on Paradair (see here), I regretted not having been able to find other models that the seven presented (plus one damaged) despite numerous researches on the Net.

But by continuing my researches, I came across a Paradair P-38 Lightning, then a few days later, a sale of a lot with 7 other Paradair models (including 3 I had already), plus 3 metal models at 1/200 scale (a Ki 61 Hien "Tony" and a Spitfire (Mk.V ?) wich the seller did not know the brand, and a Yokosuka P1Y1 "Frances" who comes from the Japanese manufacturer Konishi Seisakusho: see his website here).

And what did I do?
Well, you get to know me : I have bought them all, including models in double from Paradair or those in 1/200 ....!

Some of Paradair models have some small damage to resume, but here are presented without delay.
