A la différence des modèles petits ou moyens qui sont pratiquement "tout métal" (Tupolev SB-2, Douglas A-20 Havoc, Potez 540 ou Mitsubishi G3M "Nell"), les modèles grand format de chez Altaya (Ixo) n'ont souvent en métal, que le fuselage (creux à l'intérieur) et la partie supérieure ou inférieure des ailes (voir aussi le Kawanishi H8K2 "Emily").

Mais ils ont le mérite d'exister, puisque aucun autre fabricant ne les fait.

Dans le genre, le Petlyakov Pe-8, bombardier stratégique soviétique de la seconde guerre mondiale.
