1/144 North American F-100 Super Sabre

J'avais annoncé la présentation du dernier F-100, mais je n'ai pas pu résister à un autre (dernier)....
Donc, un autre North American F-100 Super Sabre provenant de la dernière livraison de M. Chaubet de modèles montés et peints, que j'ai décoré avec les décalques Bestfong aux couleurs de la ROCAF (Republic of China Air Force) l'armée de l'air de Taiwan.

La ROCAF fut le principal utilisateur de la version A hormis les USA, dont la majeure partie a été modifiée en version D, qui se reconnaît principalement à l'aileron de queue plus grand (voir dessous).

I had announced the presentation of the last F-100, but could not resist another (last)....
So, another North American F-100 Super Sabre from the last delivery of Mr. Chaubet of assembled and painted models, which I decorated with decals Bestfong in the colors of ROCAF (Republic of China Air Force), the Air Force of Taiwan.

The ROCAF was the main user of the A version except the USA, much of which has been modified in D version, which is recognized mainly for larger tail fin (see below).

1/144 McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II - by Witty

J'avais brièvement présenté ce F-4 Phantom, sans fixer les trains ou monter toutes les petits accessoires fournis par Witty, en proposant de voter pour le garder tel quel ou le repeindre dans le camouflage "Vietnam" (voir ici).
Peu de votants et un résultat mitigé m'ont finalement amené à...., oui, à en acheter un second modèle...!

Du coup, en attendant de refaire le second modèle, voici le premier, avec tous les accessoires complètement montés et fixés, aux couleurs de l'escadrille acrobatique de l'USAF dans les années 70 : les Thunderbirds.


I briefly introduced this F-4 Phantom, without fixing landing gears or mount all the small accessories provided by Witty, by proposing to vote to keep it as is or repaint it in "Vietnam" camouflage (see here).
Few voters and mixed results finally led me to .... yes, to buy a second model ...!

So, waiting to redo the second model, this is the first, with all the fully assembled and fixed accessories, in the colors of aerobatic squadron of the Air Force in the 70s : the Thunderbirds.

1/144 MiG 15

Je n'ai pas pu résister longtemps, et j'ai donc abandonné les travaux en cours pour réaliser ce MiG 15 aux couleurs égyptiennes à l'époque de la Crise de Suez, avec des décalques JBr sur la base d'un modèle monté et peint par M. Chaubet.

Je n'ai pas choisi exprès des photos d'avions accidentés, mais il y en a très peu surtout avec les anciennes cocardes égyptiennes avant celles de l'United Arab Republic (UAR).

I could not resist for long, so I abandoned the work in progress to make this MiG 15 in Egyptian colors at the time of the Suez Crisis, with JBr decals on the basis of a model mounted and painted by Mr. Chaubet.

I did not purposely chose pictures of crashed aircraft, but there are very few, especially with the ancient Egyptian roundels before those of the United Arab Republic (UAR).

M. Chaubet est revenu ! Mr Chaubet is back !

Oui ! M. Chaubet est passé au bureau et m'a porté 6 modèles, montés et peints, qu'il reste à décorer :

- MiG 15 : Algeria
- Bearcat : Thailand
- P-51 Mustang : Korea
- P-51 Mustang : ?????

Mais, je ne vais pas pouvoir travailler ce week end, car je pars à Londres pour revoir l'Imperial War Museum après travaux et réaménagement.


Yes ! Mr. Chaubet went to the office and took me 6 models, built and painted, which it remains to decorate :

- F-100 Super Sabre: Taiwan

- MiG 15: Algeria
- Bearcat: Thailand
- P-51 Mustang: Korea
- P-51 Mustang: ?????

But I am not going to work this weekend, because I go to London to see the Imperial War Museum after works and redevelopment.

1/144 Curtiss P-36 Hawk

Provenant d'un kit de M. Chaubet, un Curtiss P-36 que j'ai monté, peint et décoré aux couleurs d'un des rares pilotes qui a pu décoller et se battre pendant l'attaque de Pearl Harbor, le Pilot Officer Phil Rasmussen,

Ce pilote s'est précipité hors de son baraquement dès le début de l'attaque et a piloté son avion alors qu'il était encore en pyjama, comme présenté au National Museum of the United States Air Force .


From a Mr. Chaubet kit, a Curtiss P-36 that I mounted, painted and decorated in the colors of one of the few pilots who could take off and fight during the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Pilot Officer Phil Rasmussen.

This pilot rushed out of his barracks at the beginning of the attack and flew his aircraft while it was still in pajamas, as presented to the National Museum of the United States Air Force.

Le résultat d'un kit de M. Chaubet que j'ai monté, peint et décoré aux couleurs des Royal Marines, en utilisant certaines des pièces du kit Fujimi : les patins et les rotors.

Notez la différence de couleurs du même hélicoptère avec des photos prises dans des conditions de luminosité différentes.


The result of a Mr. Chaubet kit I assembled, painted and decorated in the colors of the Royal Marines, using some parts of the Fujimi kit : the skids and rotors.

Note the difference in colors of the same helicopter with shots in different lighting conditions.

1/144 Nieuport 11 "Bébé"

Un modèle que j'ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à réaliser, à partir du kit Reviresco pour l'essentiel des pièces et de celui de Skytrex dans une moindre mesure, le Nieuport 11, réputé pour avoir mis fin à la domination des Fokker E.III, le "fléau Fokker" (voir ici).

Le surnom donné à cet avion, "Bébé", n'est pas dû exclusivement à sa taille, mais de manière bien moins poétique, B pour biplan par la nomenclature constructeur et B pour chasseur par la nomenclature du Ministère de la Guerre.

Le modèle est décoré aux couleurs de l'as français Jean Navarre, surnommé "la sentinelle de Verdun", personnage haut en couleurs comme son avion :
- enfant turbulent, systématiquement (!) renvoyé des collèges où il étudiait ou fuguant de la pension anglaise où il avait été placé, il a finalement trouvé sa voie dans une école d'aéronautique,
- puis il s'est engagé au début de la guerre en mentant sur son âge, régulièrement puni pour indiscipline ou autres frasques (comme se poser sur le toit d'un immeuble...),
- attaquant quel que soit le nombre des ennemis, souvent les roues en l'air (!) pour profiter de la surprise des adversaires, participant à des opérations secrètes pour lesquelles il a été décoré de la Légion d'Honneur, il est devenu un des plus grands as de la guerre jusqu'à un accident en Juin 1916 qui l'empêchera de reprendre les vols jusqu'à l'armistice.


A model that I had a lot of fun to make, from Reviresco kit for most of the parts and that of Skytrex to a lesser extent, the Nieuport 11, reputed to have ended the domination of the Fokker E.III, the "Fokker scourge" (see here).

The nickname given to this aircraft, "Bébé" (Baby), is not exclusively due to its size, but in a much less poetic way, B for biplane by the builder nomenclature and B for fighter by the nomenclature of the Ministry of War.

The model is decorated in the colors of the French ace Jean Navarre, nicknamed "the sentinel of Verdun," highly colorful character as his plane :
- unruly child, systematically (!) expelled of the colleges where he was studying, or running away from the English boarding house where he had been placed, he finally found his way into a School of Aeronautics,
- then he committed at the beginning of the war by lying about his age, regularly punished for disobedience or other crap (like landing on the roof of a building... ),
- attacking whatever the number of the enemies, often the wheels in the air (!) to take advantage of the surprise of the adversaries, particicipating also to secret operations for which he was awarded the Legion d'Honneur, he became one of the greatest ace of the war until an accident in June 1916 that will prevent him to resume the flights until the armistice.
