1/144 Ryan L-17 Navion

Pour la reprise du travail avec les modèles coulés pendant le dernier été, voici un modèle connu mais pas vraiment provenant d'un bonus d'un kit Anigrand (mais je ne me souviens plus duquel....).

Créé par North American, qui en a construit un peu plus d'un millier, avant que la production ne soit reprise par la société Ryan Aeronautical Company, qui en a aussi construit plus d'un millier, le Navion est un avion monomoteur quadriplaces, initialement conçu en prévision de l'essor attendu de l'aviation civile après-guerre, qui ne s'est toutefois pas concrétisé à la hauteur des attentes des constructeurs, a aussi eu un rôle non négligeable chez les militaires, sous la dénomination L-17, pour la liaison, au transport léger, l'évacuation sanitaire et le contrôle aérien avancé.

Le moule et le coulage en métal se sont déroulés sans problème, et le montage et la peinture aussi.

Pour changer, j'ai décidé de le décorer aux couleurs d'un des quelques avions fournis par les USA à la force aérienne grecque, à l'époque où elle était Force aérienne royale hellénique.

Mais pourquoi une livrée aussi discrète et, il faut bien le dire, plutôt banale… ?

Mais pour le futur musée des avions à hélice des petites forces aériennes, bien sûr.....😀

To resume work with the models cast during the last summer, here is a model known but not really from a bonus of an Anigrand kit (but I don't remember which one....).

Designed by North American, which built just over a thousand before production was taken over by the Ryan Aeronautical Company, which also built more than a thousand, the Navion is a four-seater single-engine aircraft, originally designed in anticipation of the post-war boom in civil aviation which, however did not materialise to the extent that the manufacturers had hoped, but which also played an important role in military operations, under the designation L-17, particularly for liaison flights, light transport, medical evacuation and forward air control.

The molding and metal casting went smoothly, as did the assembly and painting.

For a change, I decided to finish it in the colors of one of the few aircraft supplied by the USA to the Greek Air Force, back when it was known as the Royal Hellenic Air Force.

But why such a obscure and, it must be said, rather ordinary livery...?

But for the future museum of propeller aircraft from small Air Forces, of course.....😀
