1/144 North American T-6 modifié - modified - by Chaubet

Parmi les modèles offerts par M. Chaubet provenant de son diorama sur le Show Aérien JB Salis de La Ferté Alais (voir ici), il y a un avion curieux.


Among the models offered by Mr. Chaubet from his diorama on the Air Show JB Salis at La Ferte Alais (see here), there is a curious aircraft.

Bon, je vous aide : il s'agit d'un North American T-6.

Bon, c'est vrai qu'il a été sérieusement modifié pour les besoins d'un film, pour le faire ressembler à un P-47.

En réalité, cette modification a été possible grâce à un autre avion de North American qui a été extrapolé à partir du Bt-9, l'ancêtre du T-6, un avion simple et pas cher, le P-64, vendu uniquement au Pérou et à la Thaïlande (mais du fait de l'embargo envers ce dernier pays, c'est l'US Army Air Corps qui récupérera ces 6 avions pour les utiliser comme avions d'entrainement....).

Well, it's true that it was seriously modified for the needs of a movie, to do it looking like a P-47.

In reality, this change was made possible by another aircraft from North American, that extrapolated from Bt-9, the ancestor of the T-6, a simple and cheap plane, the P-64, sold only in Peru and Thailand (but because the embargo against this latter country, it is the US Army Air Corps that will recover these 6 planes to use them as trainers....).

Et c'est comme ça que le North American T-6 bien connu a pu être modifié assez facilement, en suivant les plans du P-64, pour le faire ressembler à un chasseur monoplace, ici un P-47.

And that's how the well-known North American T-6 could be modified quite easily, following the P-64's plans, to make it look like a single-seat fighter, here a P-47.

1/144 Yakovlev Yak 11 - by Chaubet

Il y a quelques années (bien avant que je le connaisse), M. Chaubet avait réalisé un diorama au 1/144 représentant le Show Aérien de l'Amicale Jean Baptiste Salis sur l'aérodrome de La Ferté Alais (région parisienne).

A few years ago (well before I knew him), Mr. Chaubet had made a diorama at 1/144 representing the Air Show of Amicale Jean Baptiste Salis on the aerodrome of La Ferte Alais (Paris region).

Ce diorama (dont j'espère pouvoir montrer des photos) présentait une partie des "warbirds" de ce show.
Cette introduction pour vous présenter un des 3 modèles réalisés pour ce diorama que M. Chaubet m'a offerts.

Il n'a même pas une livrée originale....

Oui, mais il est spécial....
En effet, son originalité tient à son numéro....
Il ne vous rappelle rien ?
Mais si, cherchez bien....

C'est un avion historique : Confronté aux qualités du MiG 15 pendant la guerre de Corée, les américains ont organisé l'Opération Moolah, pour pouvoir obtenir un tel avion par le biais de la défection de son pilote avec à la clé, une somme de 100.000 dollars.

Malgré le largage de tracts au dessus de la Corée, des rumeurs lancées par voie de presse ou de radio, ce n'est qu'en septembre 1953, soit après l'armistice de juillet 1953, qu'un pilote Nord Coréen, le lieutenant No Kum-sok, a posé son MiG 15 sur une base Sud Coréenne.

L'avion sera finalement étudié en profondeur au Japon, notamment par l'as Chuck Yeager, avant d'être envoyé au Etats Unis.

La CIA a offert au pilote, qui ignorait tout de la récompense, la prise en charge d'une scolarité complète aux USA à la place de la somme, mais il semble avoir préféré les 100.000 $....?

This is a historic plane: Confronted with the qualities of the MiG 15 during the Korean War, the Americans organized the Operation Moolah, to be able to obtain such a plane through the defection of his pilot with a sum of $ 100,000.
In spite of the leaking of leaflets over Korea, rumors launched by way of press or radio, it is only in September 1953, that is after the armistice of Panmunjeom of July 1953, that a North Korean pilot, Lieutenant No Kum-sok, landed his MiG 15 on a South Korean base.
The plane will finally be studied in depth in Japan, especially by Ace Chuck Yeager, before being sent to the United States.

J'ai un problème - I have a problem

La réplique exacte du film Apollo 13, est "Houston, nous avons un problème" même si dans la réalité, l'astronaute Jack Swigert avait dit "Houston, nous avons eu un problème".
Mais, que ce soit au passé, au présent, au singulier ou au pluriel, il y a un problème.

J'étais tranquillement en train de préparer les modèles à mouler et couler pendant les prochaines vacances, quand j'ai eu un sérieux doute que le Fiat C.29, acheté il y a quelques semaines chez Shapeways, soit au 1/144.


The exact replica of the movie Apollo 13, is "Houston, we have a problem" even though in reality, astronaut Jack Swigert had said "Houston, we've had a problem".
But whether in the past, present, singular or plural, there is a problem.

I was quietly preparing models to mold and cast during the next holidays, when I had a serious doubt that the Fiat C.29, bought a few weeks ago at Shapeways, is at 1/144.

En effet, quand j'ai posé le Fiat C.29 à côté du Macchi MC.72, que j'envisage aussi de mouler, j'ai eu un choc.
J'ai trouvé le Fiat tellement petit..., que je me suis demandé s'il n'était pas au 1/200.

Indeed, when I put the Fiat C.29 next to Macchi MC.72, which I also plan to mold, I had a shock.
I found the Fiat so small..., that I wondered if it was not at 1/200 scale.

Et le pire, c'est lorsque j'ai posé le Macchi MC.72 au 1/200 à côté des autres, qui est en parfaite harmonie avec le Fiat C.29 quant à la taille.

And the worst,is when I put the Macchi MC.72 at 1/200 next to the others, which is in perfect harmony with the Fiat C.29 in terms of size.

Et finalement, j'ai pris des mesures et il s'avère que le Fiat C.29 est tout à fait à l'échelle 1/144, et donc extrêmement petit.

And finally, I took measurements and it turns out that the Fiat C.29 is quite at the scale 1/144, and therefore extremely small.

J'ai quand même vérifié les mesures du modèle Macchi MC 72, qui sont bien au 1/144.
Enfin, on voit sur les photos (rares) avec des personnages, que le Fiat C.29 est vraiment petit.
Bon, cela n'a l'air de rien, mais cela a été une sacrée inquiétude, ce qui a justifié de reprendre la réplique culte d'Apollo 13 : j'ai un problème...

I still checked the measures of Macchi model MC 72, which are well at 1/144.
Finally, we see on the pictures (rare) with characters, the Fiat C.29 is really small.
Well, it does not seem like anything, but it was a serious worry, which justified to resume the cult replica of Apollo 13: I have a problem...
