1/144 IJN Hiryu ???

Pas de messages ces prochains temps, car je dois faire un déplacement en Nouvelle Zélande où j'ai prévu un peu de temps libre pour un programme très "pointu" :
- le show aérien Warbirds Over Wanaka qui fête ses 30 ans,
- le Royal New Zealand Air Force Museum,
- le Aviation Heritage Museum de Peter Jackson (vous savez, le type du Seigneur des Anneaux et des maquettes Wingnut Wings)
- la Comté des Hobbits
et éventuellement le Museum of Transport (MOTAT) de Auckland.

Si j'ai encore un peu de temps, j'essaierai de faire un ou deux messages s'il y a des trucs intéressants....

En attendant, les lecteurs attentifs de ce blog ont surement noté que lors de la présentation de certains avions japonais, il avait été fait référence au porte-avions Hiryu, de la marine impériale japonaise (voir ici, ici et là).
Il est temps d'expliquer.
Non, je n'ai pas construit, en cachette, c'est à dire sans vous en parler, un porte-avions japonais au 1/144...
Non, mais j'ai un truc qui pourrait faire l'affaire...(et qui prend beaucoup moins de place...).
Alors, c'est quoi ce truc ?


In the meantime, the attentive readers of this blog certainly noted that during the presentation of some Japanese airplanes, reference was made to the aircraft carrier Hiryu of the Imperial Japanese Navy (see here, here and there).
It's time to explain.
No, I did not build, in secret, ie without telling you, a Japanese aircraft carrier at 1/144...
No, but I have something that could do the trick... (and wich takes up much less space...).
So what is this thing ?

Ou plutôt, c'était le kit en résine du fabricant japonais Kami de Koro Koro représentant un bout de pont d'envol et l’îlot du porte-avions Hiryu.

This thing, it is...
Or rather, it was the resin kit of the Japanese manufacturer Kamide Koro Koro representing a piece of flight deck and island of the aircraft carrier Hiryu.

Je dis "c'était" car si je n'ai pas eu de problèmes pour l'îlot, j'en ai eu un, grave, avec le pont d'envol.
En effet, celui-ci s'est gondolé, comme cela peut arriver de temps en temps avec la résine, mais je n'ai pas réussi à le redresser, malgré plusieurs bains chauds (une des techniques pour redresser la résine qui se tord).
En traits noirs, les formes du pont...


I say "it was" because if I did not have problems for the island, I had one, serious, with the flight deck.
Indeed, it has curled, as it can happen from time to time with the resin, but I have not managed to straighten it, despite several hot baths (one of the techniques to straighten the resin that twists).
In black lines, the shapes of the deck...

Donc, impossible d'utiliser ce pont d'envol jusqu'à ce que je trouve, sur Ebay, un modèle en bois représentant une partie du pont du porte-avions Akagi.

So, it's impossible to use this flight deck until I find, on Ebay, a wooden model representing part of the Akagi aircraft carrier's deck.

Mais, ce pont d'envol est différent de celui du Hiryu.
Donc, muni de plans au 1/144 réalisés par Profile Morskie (voir le site ici), j'ai commencé par faire quelques petites modifications sur les côtés du pont de l'Akagi (voir les traits noirs).


But, this flight deck is different from that of the Hiryu.
So, having plans to 1/144 made by Profile Morskie (see website here), I started by making some small modifications on the sides of the Akagi flight deck (see the black lines).

Puis, j'ai ajouté les parties "métalliques" du pont d'envol, réalisées en carte plastique sur laquelle j'ai collé de la maille en photodécoupe, avant de peindre.

Then I added the "metallic" parts of the flight deck, realized in plastic card on which I glued photoetched parts of mesh, before painting.

Enfin, la peinture de l'ascenseur, puis celle du pont, avant de passer un vernis mat.


Finally, painting the elevator, the one of the deck before passing a matte varnish.

Et le voilà présenté avec l’îlot provenant du kit Kami de Koro Koro.

Le voici avec ses deux Aichi D3A "Val" et Mitsubishi A6M "Zero", tous les trois aux marquages du Hiryu, sur le pont d'envol.
Il y aurait même la place pour d'autres avions, non...?

Nota : La photo d'origine montre l’îlot avec les protections de guerre que je n'ai pas installées pour ne pas surcharger l’îlot.

Un peu de rêve ?
Vous aurez noté mon amour inconsidéré (ok, ok, j'en fais un peu trop...) pour certaines maquettes Airfix, et ma satisfaction lorsque j'ai réussi à faire les mêmes (ou à peu près) au 1/114 :

- Sd.Kfz 7 & Flak 88

You will have noticed my reckless love (ok, ok, I'm a little too...) for some Airfix models, and my satisfaction when I manage to do the same (or nearly so) at 1/114 :

No, I did not realize it.
At least, not yet.
In fact, I do not have the dog...

Mais, j'ai trouvé sur Shapeways des missiles Bristol Bloodhound au 1/144, vraiment très bien faits.
Alors, cela me donne vraiment envie de réaliser le set Airfix de Bristol Bloodhound, avec sa Land Rover, mais avec tout un ensemble de missiles comme ils étaient déployés.
La seule question est de savoir de quelle couleur peindre les missiles, en blanc ou en vert camouflage.
Et puis, il faudra aussi prévoir une Land Rover...
Quoique..., un modèle Oxford, un peu de peinture, et voilà (il manque seulement la cocarde de la RAF).
D'accord, il manque quelques missiles, et la remorque, mais en attendant, voici un petit diorama pas encore fini, pour rêver un peu...


But, on Shapeways, I found Bristol Bloodhound missiles at 1/144, really well done.
So it really makes me want to realize the Airfix Bristol Bloodhound set, with its Land Rover, but with a whole set of missiles as they were deployed.
The only question is what color to paint the missiles, in white or green camouflage.
And then, it will be necessary to foresee a Land Rover...
Albeit..., an Oxford model, a bit of paint, and that's it (it only misses the RAF cockade).
Okay, missing some missiles, and the trailer, but in the meantime, here is a small diorama not finished yet, to dream a bit...

1/144 Sikorsky S-58 (H-34 Choctaw)

Après le français et celui de l'US Navy, le dernier de la série des Sikorsky S-58 au 1/144, cette fois aux couleurs des US Marines.
Je rappelle que la dénomination S-58 est celle du fabricant Sikorsky, cet hélicoptère ayant été aussi appelé HSS-1 Seabat par l'US Navy et H-34 Choctaw par l'US Army et les US Marines.
C'est un modèle que j'avais commandé monté et peint à M. Chaubet, et sur lequel j'ai réalisé la décoration, avec vraiment beaucoup, beaucoup de décalques à poser lettres par lettres.
Mais je trouvais cette décoration trop bien avec ces yeux....


After the French and the one of US Navy, the last of the series of Sikorsky S-58 at 1/144, this time in the colors of US Marines.
I recall that the name S-58 is that of the manufacturer Sikorsky, this helicopter having been also called HSS-1 Seabat by the US Navy and H-34 Choctaw by the US Army and the US Marines.
This is a model I ordered mounted and painted to Mr. Chaubet, and on which I realized the décoration, with really many, many decals to put letters by letters.
But I found this decoration too good with these eyes....

Pourtant, il y en a une, au second plan, les fumées montrant un combat.
C'est plus réaliste, non ?
C'est pourquoi, quand Arrowhead Miniatures (ex-Wargames South) a produit canon de 88 allemand, utilisé comme antichar ou de DCA, avec en plus son tracteur, le Sd.kfz 7, j'ai voulu réaliser un modèle "réaliste", qui "sentait la poudre et la poussière".
Alors, le voilà, sale et fatigué, ce Sd.kfz 7 avec son canon de 88, qui a failli connaître les rives du Nil et qui, après deux années de combat en Afrique du Nord, retraite en direction de la Tunisie.

It's more realistic, right ?
That's why, when Arrowhead Miniatures (formerly Wargames South) produced a German 88 gun, used as an anti-tank or anti-aircraft, plus its tractor, the Sd.kfz 7, I wanted to make a "realistic" model, which "smelled powder and dust".
So here he is, dirty and tired, this Sd.kfz 7 with his 88 gun, which almost knew the banks of the Nile and which, after two years of fighting in North Africa, retreat towards Tunisia.

1/144 Fairchild A-10 Thunderbolt II Warthog - by S14 Aviation Fighters Series

Je ne pouvais pas trouver meilleure photo pour annoncer sa venue.
Car, oui, après avoir eu droit à une photo des prototypes, le modèle définitif vient d'arriver directement du Japon, pays de son fabricant, la Société S14.
Il est magnifique, avec une grande finesse de détails, et fourni avec un certain nombre d'armements à rajouter sous les ailes, en plus de celles déjà fixées.
C'est vraiment du grand grand boulot pour du 1/144.
Du coup, je ne sais pas si je vais conserver celui que j'avais réalisé il y a quelques années, beaucoup plus rustique (voir ici).


I could not find better photo to announce its coming.
Because, yes, having been entitled to a photo of the prototypes, the final model has just arrived directly from Japan, country of its manufacturer, the Company S14.
It is beautiful, with very fine details, and provided with a number of weapons to add, in addition to those already fixed.
It's really great great job for 1/144.
So, I do not know if I will keep the one I made a few years ago, much more rustic (see here).
